450 lots presented for sale on Thursday last, some plainer categories of stock have experienced a dip in prices in recent weeks but a lot of categories especially quality younger stock still remain a fine trade with some fancy prices obtained for the top quality lots. The bullock ring witnessed the top quality stores peak at €5.53 a kilo while heavier lots made up to €3320. The heifer ring had a similar tone with stores fetching up to €5.49 a kilo while forward lots topped out at €3160. Cows with calves at foot made up to €3920 with springers making up to €2760. Dry cows peaked at €2800 while the calf ring reported an excellent clearance with lots making up to €790. The weanling rings with lesser numbers on offer witnessed bulls exceed €7.00 a kilo while €2460 was forked out for a 335 kg BBX weanling heifer or €7.34 a kilo.
